The CMRA / Columbines Chatfield 10 miler, this year the Five and Dime, was once again a great success. Almost 300 runners ran the 5 and 10 mile courses on a lovely November morning. Beautiful skies and just a bit of chill graced the runners on the Chatfield trail run. And, the runners were in fine form. Finishing the 10 mile course in just a touch over an hour, overall male winner, Brian Ream hit 1:00:02, with Matt Thrasher just behind him at 1:00:03. Keith Johnson and Marcus Arbett were close behind at 1:01:12 and 1:01:24. The top female finisher, Amanda Nilsen, at 1:07:44 was followed by Heather Utratel at 1:10:01. Caroline Szuch, 1:12:03, and Jen Hurley, 1:13:37 also finished in less than an hour and 15 minutes. Joe Sanchez was the top finisher in the 70-74 male category with a time of 1:28:52, Ken Green, in the male 75 and over group, finished in 2:01:12 with Vici DeHaan, female 70 -74, finishing in 2:07:06. For this 10 mile course, with the back five sand dunes, those are great times!

In the five miler, Michael Quispe, the first male finished in 31:13 with the first female, Lindsay Krause, 32:05 not far behind to finish second overall. Bob Jones, 32:42, second male, third overall and Kari Samuelson, 33:25 second female, fourth overall were followed by Daniel Horton, 34:53, third male, fifth overall and Emily Carroll 35:15, third female, sixth overall. The Captain, finished first in the 75 and over male category in 51:36, with Nancy Crow finishing first in the 60 - 64 female category in 54:34. Ninety six runners opted to run the five mile race.

Thanks to the Colorado Columbines Running Club for the support on this race. They helped plan, mark and run the race with the Masters this year. A big thanks for all of the food, prepared by the Columbines and the help at the water tables, finish line and marshaling the course and traffic. A special thanks to Cathy Rosset and Terry McFarlane, the co-directors from the Columbines for the race.

Masters volunteers, also keep the races going. Thanks to all for bringing the equipment and setting up, registering the 300 runners, manning the water tables, marshaling the course, parking the cars, working the finish line, and cleaning up afterwards.
